Windows 7 Programs can't update Registry

المجموعة: الدعم التقني

Problem discription and symptoms:

When trying to install programs get error on failure to update registry values.

Unable to use USB memory card, can't install it because of an access denied error.

tried to install driver for USB disk on key from windows safe mode(win7 F8), worked!

Debugged for a program causing registry block in normal mode, using startup manager(can be found on this site).

Found program, Movie ToolBar something.. couldn't uninstall or delete in normal mode, so went back to safe mode and deleted files.

Worked like charm, gained back control over windows, installed AV and so on .

Updated Workaround instructions for 64 Bit OS Install Options 34092 Views, 50 Replies 04-15-2007 09:43 PM 1. Download and install Orca from Microsoft. 2. Copy the installation files to your hard drive or a network folder. 3. Backup the files ACA.msi and Setup.ini 4. Edit the ACA.msi with Orca and delete the action found in the table "InstallExecuteSequence" that is called "CheckFor64BitOS" Delete the same line under table "CustomAction" 5. Save and close the ACA.msi 6. Edit the Setup.ini with Notepad. Delete the line under "#==================== Platform Requirement" that is labeled "PLATFORM=NO_WOW_64_PROCESS" 7. Double-click the Setup.exe and you should be able to install without any problems. 8. Some support paths under the "Files" tab of the configuration dialog box have incorrect paths. The installer adds and extra "\AppData\AppData" to some support paths located in the user profile. For example the Main Customization File's path is listed as "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\AppData\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ACD-A 2008\enu\Support\ADT" when it should be "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ACD-A 2008\enu\Support\ADT" Fix the incorrect paths, hit apply, and you are good to go. I wonder why the ADT team chose to disable 64 bit installs. The program seems to function fine in Vista 64 bit. ADT 2006 and 2007 installed without a hitch on this same system even though you had to set them to run as ADMIN in order to be able to use them, so I am not buying the whole "the ARX programs don't work with 64 bit" argument. I switched to Revit a few years ago anyway, but it is a shame what they are doing to ADT. Peace out.
